Lyon Leaves The Business

Former CBS 2 reporter Kerri Lyon, who left the station a few weeks ago, is leaving the television news business. The Daily News reports that she will be a communications advisor for the New York City Department of Education.

When Lyon first joined CBS 2 in 2002, she was the station's education reporter.

I certainly wish Kerri the best in her new endeavor. She was an excellent reporter for NY1 and WCBSTV and will be an asset to the Department of Education.

Several other former broadcast journalists have done very well in corporate or government communications. Off the top of my head Michael O'Looney is now with Merill Lynch, Paul Fleuranges is with the MTA, and Tanya Valle is with the Administration for Children's services. All of veterans of NY1 news. Many NY1 veterans also moved on to positions on the broadcast stations.
